Translucent Light Amber Plastic
Barbary Coast Lounge Stick
Approximately 6 1/4 inches in total length.
The top is about 2 1/8 inches tall.
Running down the front of the stick is "BARBARY COAST" On the back "HOYT HOTEL PORTLAND OREGON".
The Hoyt Hotel was a Portland institution. The Barbary Coast was decorated in the fashion of the "Gay Nineties" to bolster the Roaring 20's resurgence of the 1960's. The restaurant was opened 24 hours and had 77 gas lamps. There were caged talking mynah birds that would utter profanities. Sirens sounded when someone in the men's room used the urinal with good aim and sufficient stream. Sadly, the hotel has been demolished. This swizzle is in the shape of a gas lamp post.
